Furies

Furies are chthonic deities of retribution — the field-naturalist's note records them not as blazing titans but as an intrusion of cold and law: the air tastes of copper and rain on stone, a low sibilant chorus threads the wind, and temperature falls to a bone-deep chill. In ruins, crossroads and threshold rooms where secret injuries linger they arrive as shadowed, winged silhouettes and coils of dark hair, their presence pruning the smallest sounds until only a hard, watchful silence remains. Even at a distance they give the landscape a taut, metallic hush, as if the land itself were holding its breath.
