Huldra

Huldra is a Fae of the Scandinavian woodlands, a figure at the verge of human sight—often human-shaped, unexpectedly tall, with hair like damp bark and an outline that never quite belongs to any one season. Smell: the sharp sweetness of pine sap and fresh-moss, with a faint hint of smoke as from a distant hearth. Sound: a soft linen-like brush of movement through leaves, punctuated by a distant, teasing chime of cowbells or a single clear laugh like a creek over stone. Temperature: the air around her reads cool and twilight-damp, a few degrees colder than the surrounding forest, as if night itself leans in.
