In the field he announces himself like morning sharpened to a keen edge: the air smells of heated bronze and peat smoke, tanging faintly of cut hay; sound is a clear, metallic ring—like a bronze blade struck once and heard for leagues—underscored by distant voices and festival drums; temperature reads warm, the kind of dry, focusing heat that turns dew to silver and makes tools gleam. A presence felt as sunlight concentrated into promise: precise, demanding, and strangely civil in its intensity.
