Rusalka

Rusalka is a Fae water-spirit typically found at the edge of slow rivers, marshy ponds, and willow-shaded backwaters. In the field she presents as either a pale, long-haired figure half-merged with reeds or an absence in the water that hums like a voice. Smell: a damp, green tang of riverweed and crushed willow with a faint, mineral tang of old water. Sound: thin, distant singing layered over the whisper of reeds and the soft, hollow laughter of something just out of sight. Temperature: the air drops suddenly and wickedly cold where she lingers; skin feels clammy and breath mists as if the water itself has exhaled.
