Yuki-onna

Yuki-onna is a cold, wraithlike spirit seen in snowbound regions—an ethereal woman in white whose presence reads like a sudden freeze in the world. Smell: the clean, thin tang of ozone and iron, as if the air itself were sharpening; Sound: a distant, sibilant wind that carries the soft crunch of new snow and the faint, hollow chime of frozen branches; Temperature: immediate, biting cold that frosts breath and makes lamps gutter, as if warmth itself is being drawn away.
