Lore
Bulgasari is a Monster of iron and hunger — a compact, riveted behemoth that moves with the deliberate force of a smith's hammer. Smell: the sharp tang of ozone and scorched iron, with oil and faint soot clinging to the air. Sound: a chorus of clanging plates and grinding rivets, punctuated by a low, persistent rumble like bellows and distant hammer strikes. Temperature: it radiates furnace-warm heat from its seams, as if its metal surface were freshly forged; close approach leaves the air tasting warm and metallic.

Field Notes
Observations
- A trail of torn or melted metal — plow blades, nails and tools chewed or gouged into circular marks — and the echoing cadence of metallic clatters at dusk.
Encounter Advice
- avoidance: Do not stand your ground. Remove or cover all personal metal, retreat to timber or earthen shelters, and avoid producing smith-like noise. Keep vulnerable people and animals indoors until the threat has passed.
- defense: Containment and diversion are primary. Shepherd it away using controlled heaps of scrap iron (heavy pieces slow it), lure it toward terrain or stonework that restricts movement, and employ weighted timber barriers or large rolling stones to impede progress. Coordinate with skilled smiths to craft sacrificial metal offerings rather than attempting close combat.
- offering: A deliberate pile of scrap iron — old horseshoes, broken plowshares, and battered tools — can distract or divert its attention long enough to relocate communities.
Abilities
- Metalheart AssimilationConsumes iron and ferrous objects and melds them into its body, increasing size, armor and mass with each item swallowed.
- Ironborn RegrowthWhen wounded it melts recently ingested metal into seams and reconstitutes lost limbs or plating within hours.
- Ferrous ResonanceEmits a metallic pulse that magnetically drags nearby tools and weapons toward it, disarming foes and feeding its hunger.
Weaknesses
- Metal StarvationA strict and prolonged denial of all iron and steel causes progressive atrophy and shrinkage of its body.
- Kiln SealingTrapping and sealing it inside a high-temperature kiln or forge with no access to new metal prevents feeding and gradually destabilizes its form.
- Low‑Melting Alloy InfiltrationPouring low‑melting, nonferrous alloys (e.g., lead-bronze mixtures) into joints and maw can clog, contort and partially delaminate its metallic structure.
