Lore
Heimdall is a Deity — the vigilant watchman of the Aesir, posted at the world's edge where sea and sky meet. Field notes mark him less by form than by presence: the air around his station carries a clean, briny tang like cliff-spray after lightning (Smell); sound sharpens into impossible clarity, every distant footstep and whispered tide folded into a single, metallic tone (Sound); temperature sits on the tongue as a bright, keen cold that pricks the cheeks but rarely bites, as if the world itself is on alert (Temperature). Observed at dawn and dusk: horizons sharpen, shadows align, and a stillness falls that is not empty but waiting.

Observations
- A clear, resonant blast — the Gjallarhorn's note or its echo — heard before other sounds; or the sudden, unnatural sharpening of distant noises.
Encounter Advice
- taboo: Do not approach his post with deceit, theft, or boastful claims of sight. Crossing a guarded threshold or attempting to seize the horn is a grave transgression; honor boundaries and truth while in his presence.
- reverence: Mark the turning of day with simple acts of watchfulness: keep a small, steady light, offer a cup of mead or clean water at dawn, and bind a strand of white wool to a post as a pledge of vigilance. Speak a short oath of attention rather than pleas for favor.
- offering: A modest cup of mead or clean water, a polished horn or a braid of white wool—tokens of wakefulness and care rather than grand gifts.
Abilities
- Gjallarhorn ResonanceHeimdall can sound the Gjallarhorn to summon the gods and unleash a realm-shattering sonic blast that rends illusions and alerts all Æsir.
- Ever-Vigil SightHeimdall can see to the ends of the world and perceive events across all realms as if they occur before his eyes.
- Hear the Grass GrowHis hearing detects the faintest sounds—grass growing, the wool on sheep, or the distant approach of ships—across vast distances and between worlds.
- Bifrost AnchorAs guardian of the rainbow bridge, he can seal, reinforce, or sever passage on Bifrost, preventing or permitting transit between Midgard and Asgard.
Weaknesses
- Separation from GjallarhornDeprived of Gjallarhorn, Heimdall cannot produce his world-shaking blast nor easily rally the gods, dramatically reducing his battlefield command.
- Bound to the BifrostHis perception and many powers are amplified while stationed at the Bifrost; forced removal from his post causes his senses and magical reach to wane.
- Fated Duel with LokiNorse fate binds him to a terminal combat with Loki at Ragnarök—an unavoidable outcome that culminates in both their deaths.
