Lore
Yaksha is a Deity — an ancient nature-guardian and steward of hidden wealth. In the field their presence reads like a buried map: the air grows heavy with the scent of damp loam and crushed sandalwood; the sound is a low susurration of leaves threaded with a distant, coinlike chime; the temperature is an earth-warmed steadiness, as if standing on sun-warmed moss. They frequent secluded groves, river bends and cave mouths where roots and riches tangle; their mood can feel as grounding as a stone altar or as exacting as a watchful sentinel.

Field Notes
Observations
- A single bright coin or a gold-hued leaf placed improbably at the base of an old tree, or an abrupt hush in the undergrowth followed by a faint, rhythmic clink from below the soil.
Encounter Advice
- taboo: Do not take treasure or move marked stones without leaving an offering and speaking respect; do not fell sacred trees or deface their groves; avoid mockery, false oaths, or careless profanity within their precincts.
- reverence: Approach the boundary with calm; leave a simple offering (rice, coin, flower or sandalwood smoke), speak a short phrase of thanks or the Yaksha's name, and walk the perimeter rather than trampling through the heart of the site.
- offering: Small coins, a bowl of rice, fresh flowers or mango leaves, a pinch of sandalwood or an oil lamp.
Abilities
- Treasure Veil (Hoard's Concealment)Enshrouds burial-mounds and caches in layered earth-illusions so wealth appears as worthless detritus or vanishes entirely to uninvited hands.
- Shapeshift — Human GuiseAdopts a benign human or animal form to test, bargain with, or mislead travelers, only revealing true form when angered or honored.
- RootbindCommands roots and soil in its domain to entangle, bury, or reroute trespassers along the boundaries of its mound or grove.
- Wealth's FavorBriefly bestows a small, tangible boon—a found coin, sudden luck, or a hidden path—to those who present correct tribute.
Weaknesses
- Salt LineA continuous line of pure salt around a mound arrests its movement and prevents it from crossing that boundary.
- Unkept PactBreaking an oath or failing to return a promised portion of an offering severs favors and can force the Yaksha to withdraw protection.
- Wrought Iron StrikeDirect strike with wrought iron disrupts its earth-forms and weakens its hold on soil and roots.
