- A single, piercing war-cry followed by a sudden hush and the mingled scent of peat and iron.
- avoidance: If you hear his cry or witness signs of ríastrad (a violent, uncontrollable change in his demeanor), do not approach. Give wide ground, keep noncombatants and animals away, and refrain from making boasts or provoking challenges. Do not place yourself between him and his chosen foe.
- defense: Do not attempt to confront him head-on. Seek cover or high ground and prioritize extraction of the vulnerable. Signal non-hostility with respectful words and distance; create distractions (noise, smoke, obstacles) rather than direct engagement. Preserve life and withdraw until the danger passes.
- offering: Words of honor and acknowledgment of his name and deeds; small tokens of respect to his lineage (spoken lineage or a humble tribute) can calm encounters—never mock or belittle.
