Danu

Danu is a Deity often spoken of as the ancestral mother of rivers and peoples — presence felt rather than seen. Smell: the damp sweetness of peat and fresh springwater streaked with crushed wildflower and cut grass. Sound: a low, patient susurrus of river over stone, distant bells like hollow shells, and the soft chorus of nesting birds. Temperature: the air around her is temperate and alive — cool mist at dawn, sun-warmed loam by noon, the comforting steadiness of a sheltered riverbank. As a field naturalist would note, traces of Danu read like a healthy watershed: bright green moss, clear trickling runs, and a sudden, steadying hush among the reeds.
