Domovoi is a Fae household guardian often spoken of like a small, shaggy elder who lives in the nooks of a home. Smell: a trace of woodsmoke, stale milk and warm bread—familiar, domestic scents that linger where one might expect a hearth to be. Sound: soft scuffs across floorboards, an almost-purring murmur beneath the rafters, the tiny clink of a spoon left overnight. Temperature: palpably cool, like a draft that borrows the memory of the hearth's warmth rather than its heat; presence feels intangible, a suggestion of a body rather than one you can touch. Field notes favor close observation: disturbances are domestic and intimate, leaving evidence in the bed, the baking, or the family animals rather than in the wild.
