Haetae

Haetae is a Deity-guardian — a leonine, horned sentinel of stone and law from Korean lore. Field notes record its presence as unmistakably terrestrial and purposeful: smell of warm incense mingled with rain on hot stone; sound a low, measured clack or toll, as if a temple bell were translated into footfall; temperature dry-warm and dense, like powerful muscle sealed beneath a mineral pelt. It behaves like a living monument: slow to move, instant in judgment, carrying the weight of civic order rather than appetite for flesh.
