Kumiho

Kumiho — Hostile Fae (fox spirit). Seen at the limits of settlement and in quiet mountain passes, it appears as a lithe fox with many tails or as an unnervingly calm human shadow whose eyes reflect like burnished bronze. Smell: a sharp metallic tang woven with crushed wild garlic and dried leaves, as if iron and autumn forest met in a single breath. Sound: near-silent paw-steps or soft, misplaced laughter carried on the wind; at times a whisper of silk and fallen pine needles. Temperature: a sudden, localized chill that cuts through clothing, like the draft from a shuttered room opened to winter. Field notes: moves with patient intent, studies prey before choosing a moment to strike; leaves subtle, repeated traces—flattened grass, three-toed tracks, and the faint impression of fur on cold stone.
