Jörmungandr

Jörmungandr is a Monster — the world-encircling sea-serpent of old Norse sagas. In the field it reads like a moving coastline: immense, banded scales the colour of oil and storm-clouds; eyes like drowned lanterns that reflect a cold, patient intelligence. Smell: a sharp brine cut with metallic copper and the faint, acrid tang of old lightning. Sound: a deep, planetary groan beneath waves, a slow rolling creak as if the ocean itself flexes; close encounters bring a low, sonar-like rumble that sets timbers humming. Temperature: despite the northern waters it inhabits, there is a notable, living warmth along its thick musculature — a slow heat under wet skin that betrays tremendous power.
